City services will be changed for Plano residents due to Independence Day holidays

Plano will not be collecting garbage or recycling on July 5 due to Independence Day. (Community impact newspaper staff)

The town of Plano will operate with modified opening times on Independence Day and after the public holiday, according to the town’s website.

There will be no garbage and recycling collection on July 5th as the holiday will be observed on that day. Residents whose garbage and recycling pickup is scheduled for Monday will have the pickup on July 6, while those who normally have Tuesday’s pickup will switch to July 7. Residents who normally have the Wednesday pickup will move on July 8, and those who normally have the Thursday pickup will move on July 9.

Adjusted times for city facilities during the holiday weekend can be found below:

• Animal shelter: closed on July 4th

• Carpenter, Oak Point, Liberty and Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Centers: open 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4 and 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 5

• Labor day center: closed on July 4

• Environmental education center: closed on July 4

• High Point Tennis Center: open 7:30 am to 6 pm on July 4 and 7:30 am to 11 pm on July 5

• Center for the reuse of household chemicals: closed on July 3

• Interurban railway museum: closed on July 4

• Jack Carter swimming pool: open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4 and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 5

• North Texas Municipal Water District Transfer Station and Regional Disposal Facility 121: Open July 5

• Oak Point Nature and Retreat Center: closed July 4 and 5

• Pecan Hollow golf course: open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 4 and 5

• Plano Aquatic Center: open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 4 and from noon to 5 p.m. on July 5

• Plano municipal offices: closed on July 5

• Plano Public Library (Davis, Haggard, Harrington, Parr and Schimelpfenig libraries): closed July 4 and 5

• Sam Johnson Recreation Center for adults 50 and over: closed July 4 and open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 5

• Texas Pure Products regional composting site and Custer Road facility: closed July 5
