It’s time to redefine the way you network. For some, networking may just be another buzzword or conjure up routine corporate events. However, in 2021, it can help you achieve your business goals, while also achieving your personal goals.

By setting your goals, your business goals will naturally follow. This doesn’t mean you should avoid attending all industry events; consider bringing a friend or having your own party instead! Below are some ideas to help you feel gratification as you work to advance your career:

Bring a friend. Do you have a close friend or relative who has expressed an interest in getting involved in the real estate business? Conferences and conventions have long been associated with an implicit pressure to connect with new people. You can alleviate some of these anxieties by having a loved one accompany you. Ideally, you will split up during the event and be able to exchange the contacts that each of you made when you meet again.

Organize a party. It is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to build new relationships. If it’s safe to host an event, invite a dozen friends and have them extend the invitation to another of their friends. Make sure you introduce yourself to new faces.

Open up. At industry events, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being strictly business-oriented. You might just be too focused on making a good impression. However, you want to avoid sounding boring or worse, only talking to these people to further your business goals. By opening up and sharing a little about yourself, you can make new connections organically.

If you are an agent, you are probably an interesting and outgoing person, and the suggestions listed above won’t be too difficult for you, if you don’t already do them.
